Membership Information

Membership

Please help us create affordable and moderate income housing at Lake Tahoe by becoming a Saint Joseph Community Land Trust member. Members may vote on affairs of the organization, run for a Board position, and receive invitations to events and meetings. SJCLT is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), community-based corporation with a democratically elected board of directors.

You may fill out a Membership Application Form and submit the form directly to us over the web. We will send you a confirmation along with a payment reminder for the membership level that you specify.

Annual dues are only $25.00 for individuals and $100.00 for businesses and organizations. Checks should be made out to Saint Joseph Community Land Trust, Inc.  Additional membership dues for honorary membership titles are welcome and help us cover dailybusiness expenses not usually covered by grants.

While Roman Catholic in its philosophy, SJCLT membership is open to persons of all faiths.

Q.  When was Saint Joseph Community Land Trust founded?

A.  SJCLT was founded in December 2002 in response to a growing shortage of affordable homes at Lake Tahoe.  

Q.  Do I have to be Catholic to live in a Saint Joseph Community Land Trust home or participate in the organization?

 A.  No.  SJCLT programs and membership is open to persons of all faiths. 

Q.  Does SJCLT operate in Truckee or other communities outside of the Lake Tahoe basin?

A.  No.  Our service area is limited to the Lake Tahoe basin so that we can focus local housing issues. 

Q.  How often does your Board of Directors meet?

A.  The Board is required to hold at least two meetings per year, including the Annual Meeting of the Board and Membership in May or June, and the Semi-Annual Meeting of the Board and Membership (usually in November).  However, the Board often holds other meetings throughout the year.  These meetings are posted on this website. 

Q.  How are Board members compensated?

A.  SJCLT Board members recieve no compensation for their service to the Board.  All Board members serve as volunteers to the organization.
